Great Story: R1 Million Winner!

Great Story: R1 Million Winner!

Man with “last ticket” wins R1-million at Goldrush Rustenburg

GERHARDUS MAREE has got to be one of the luckiest people in South Africa! He was literally the last Golden Ticket winner in Goldrush Million’s September promotion and ended up winning the R1-million big prize! Here is his great story to the MILLION!

“I had heard about the promotion but I wasn’t sure about the details and asked the manager at Goldrush Rustenburg at 2pm on Saturday” (the final day of the promotion). I decided to enter and it was my luck that I won a Golden Ticket in the “Last Chance Tournament. When it came to the finals, the local MC said he hoped that it would be Rustenburg’s lucky day. I chirped him and said it would be. I was watching the R1-milion Spinning Wheel from a distance and didn’t realize that Rustenburg had landed on the R1-million prize. I didn’t need to because the entire place exploded into a big party. I then turned to the MC and we both burst out laughing,” he said.

Maree, 58, who owns a ready-mix company said he would be investing the money in a new house. He thanked the staff and team at Goldrush for their service:

“Many people ask why I don’t travel to the big casinos but Goldrush is safe, the staff are friendly and I feel very much at home. And that makes the difference for me. My wife, Marileze and I are treated like royalty here and we now have a big prize too,” he chuckled.

Maree joins Pietermaritzburg millionaire, Nirvana Moodley, who was Goldrush’s August R1-million winner. This made him Goldrush Million’s second millionaire in two months!

Goldrush CEO, Mergan Naidoo congratulated Maree and confirmed an additional R1,5-million had been presented to consolation prize winners in branches throughout SA:

“We call it SA’s hottest promo and are keeping to our promise. One of our missions at Goldrush is to keep our clients entertained and we certainly did this with celebrities Barry Hilton, Lloyd Cele and Proverb managing the final draws. Also, clients have realized that this promotion provides just about the best odds of winning a million rand anywhere in South Africa and they have embraced it. I know it’s a lot of money that we are giving away but if our clients are happy, so are we,” he said.

Goldrush Bingo MDs Kathleho Thejane and Greg Sutherland confirmed that the promo would continue into October, with qualification tournaments taking place at Goldrush branches countrywide every Friday at 2pm and 8pm. Winners qualify for the Playoffs and can enter “Last Chance Tournaments” on October 28.

A total of 38 branch finalists then compete for the big R1-million prize at 9.30pm that night.

Goldrush Millions is widely regarded was one of the country’s largest-ever gaming promotions with over R25-million up for grabs over six months and a R1-million prize to be won by one lucky person every month.

Other Goldrush Millions Final winners on Saturday were: 2nd – Chatsworth - R100 000; 3rd – Phoenix - R75 000; 4th – Durban Central – R50 000 and 5th – New Market - R25 000.
